Tips for riding a rental in Nepal

  • Check brakes, chain, tyres and lights before you leave the shop, and photograph any scratches.
  • Carry the rental agreement and bike papers — police checkpoints ask for them.
  • Leave Kathmandu early in the morning to beat traffic on the Prithvi Highway.
  • Fuel up whenever you can above Beni and Besisahar; stations are few.
  • Do not plan to ride after dark in the hills.
